Doesn't matter though...I refuse to send a whole party to school. If I had been teaching first grade again this year, instead of middle school, I would have written it in my first grade guidelines. I probably would have gone over it on Orientation Night too.

Don't feel guilty about not going all out. Did you ever say something to your parents or did you just let it go. I wish something would be said so I don't feel so guilty about not "going all out."
Vern, yes, it's true...just you wait! ;)Jacquelinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16241921401797098075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2789752907253397542.post-88170827851521513932012-01-19T09:05:38.932-05:002012-01-19T09:05:38.932-05:00Good lord are you serious!!!????Good lord are you serious!!!????Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04751250159736178275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2789752907253397542.post-14464850463968935462012-01-18T16:50:44.177-05:002012-01-18T16:50:44.177-05:00As a former, first grade teacher, I can tell you t...As a former, first grade teacher, I can tell you that it drove me crazy when parents would bring in goodie bags and balloons and gifts for their children. If you want to have a birthday party with the children in the class, by all means, do it but don't take my instructional time for it. Do it on your own time.
I am sticking with your way Jackie. D's birthday is coming up and I'll let him choose which snack he wants. Last year it was rice krispy treats, who know's what it will be this year... but it will only be a snack- not a whole party.Jolenehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18012519488713711853noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2789752907253397542.post-12572507597687305712012-01-18T16:38:38.803-05:002012-01-18T16:38:38.803-05:00That seems pretty strict. I know there are some kids in Jenna's class who were not able to have the same things as everyone else but the teachers keep "fun" snacks for them in their desk. I have a feeling it's only going to get worse but I have my fingers crossed Kindergarten will be better. :)Jacquelinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16241921401797098075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2789752907253397542.post-12966401076297235922012-01-18T16:34:44.455-05:002012-01-18T16:34:44.455-05:00You are lucky....at my school, you can't bring...You are lucky....at my school, you can't bring anything in. Wellness policy says that cookies, cupcakes, and munchkins are bad...not to mention the issues with food allergies. You have to order a snack through the cafeteria...pretzels, pencils, and erasers. And of course, you might bring in the whole she-bang...like you said, balloons, and food, and cakes and presents. Then what if little Johnny over there can't afford it? He feels bad and outcasted. Then, what if little Cindy is a Jehovah's Witness, and she doesn't celebrate special occasions? Lord, so many rules nowadays. I don't know what it will be when I have kids...good luck Jackie!!Christinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15187280932663628248noreply@blogger.com
